Featuring dancers, music and iconic photography, Grant Us Courage… Grant Us Peace commemorates the 10 Year Memorial Anniversary of September 11, 2001.
This work of healing, previously performed in 2002 and in 2004 when the company raised $20,000 for the Pentagon Memorial Fund, is dedicated to those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 77. The work was choreographed at the request of Tom, one of Kathy Harty Gray’s three brothers, all of whom were New York firemen. Two of them were responders that day and the third joined his colleagues in the rescue efforts. Kathy was in close contact with her family during those days and this served as a major inspiration for her choreography.
The names of the dance sections – Searching, Courage, Memories, A Special Prayer and Rebuilding our Lives – evoke the courage and the heroism that allows the human spirit to move forward while remembering those whom we have lost and still miss.
This piece was created and is performed with the hopes to heal and inspire the spirit, and to remind us to appreciate our own lives and the connections to people around us.
